Landscape Ontario Seminar Technician Job Description
Purpose: To assist in the preparation of practical seminars to ensure successful implementation during the January-March 2011 season. Hours of work will vary from 6-12hrs per week.
Functional role: Under the direction of the Seminar Coordinator, organize and support the practical seminars at Landscape Ontario.

The seminar Technician will report to the Seminar Coordinator and Manager of the Education and Labour Department at LO Head Office. They will provide direction to the Prep-Seminar Coordinator on all seminars duties and assist in determining the required results.

Details:
- Prep-Coordinator will review the 2011 seminar brochure for seminar scheduling
- Familiarize themselves with the facility as well as the inventory of material and tools already onsite
- Correspond with Instructors for updated seminar material and tools/equipment lists
- Follow expense policy prior to purchase or rental of materials, tools, gas etc.
- Set up material, tools and classroom for seminar according to the seminar schedule. Seminar set-up may entail use of the Skid Steer, pump cart or manual labour.
- Clean-up and organize material and tools for next seminar. Arrange or return rented items.
- Correspond with Instructors via telephone, e- mail and fax
- Order needed material achieving the most competitive price
- Rent tools & equipment achieving most competitive price and arranging for delivery and pick-up
- Storage, tracking of material/tools
- Set-up of material/tools
- Set up instructional classrooms
- Clean-up of material/tools
- Clean up instructional spaces
- Be a leader in workplace safety & maintenance
- Personal Protective equipment will be required, industry approved work boots, gloves, and hearing protection Skills:
- Must hold a Skid Steer certification card (will certify the right fit candidate)
- Strong communication skills- verbal and written
- Basic computer skills – to complete orders
- Drivers License
- Experience in the landscape industry
- Identification of different aggregates, stone, products and materials etc
- Positive attitude
