Heavy snow leads to limited availability of salt in parts of US and Canada Tuesday February 26, 2008 11:48 EST Limited availability of rock salt in parts of Canada and the midwest and northeast US has been reported, due to above average amounts of snowfall this winter. Private contractors, who remove snow and ice from parking lots, commercial businesses, and retail establishments, are finding it increasingly difficult to get salt in some areas as heavy winter weather continues and it is recommended they advise property managers of the pending salt shortage.
