Contractor and Sub-contractor

The Joint Health and Safety Committee shall contact all contractors and sub-contractors that work for your company and ask them for a copy of their company’s Health and Safety Policy and also supply them with a copy of your Health and Safety Policy.

The Joint Heath and Safety Committee and or an employee shall also advise all contractors and sub-contractors that they must follow all of the Health and Safety guidelines of your company.

The Health and Safety Policies shall be updated and exchanged every year. All sub-contractors shall supply your company with an up-to-date copy of the WSIB and insurance coverage certificates when requested.

A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) is composed of worker and employer representatives. Together, they should be mutually committed to improving health and safety conditions in the workplace. Committees identify potential health and safety issues and bring them to the employer's attention and must be kept informed of health and safety developments in the workplace by the employer. See MOL website.
