Landscape Ontario, in association with the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association and the Agricultural Adaptation Council, offers an exciting series of green industry business management courses, based on the six required modules to achieve CLP certification. Choose from 52 courses, held across Ontario! Each course deals with one of the six modules of the program:
- Strategic Planning
- Leadership and Corporate Citizenship
- Human Resource Management
- Corporate Financial Management
- Marketing and Sales Management
- Exterior Production Operations and Risk Contracts and Legal Requirements
To earn the CLP designation, a written exam must be passed for each module. After each course, participants have the option to write an exam providing they register for the exam with CNLA prior to the course date.

All of the listed prices include HST. All courses include lunch, unless otherwise noted. The hours of all courses are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Some courses, especially those with a limited number of attendees, sell out fast, so please get your registration forms in as soon as possible. Seminars are non-refundable. Full payment is required before seminar is confirmed.
It is strongly suggested that each participant read and review the CLP manuals prior to taking each course and exam for best success. An order form for the manuals can be downloaded from the CNLA website at www.clp.canadanursery.com.

What is CLP?
The CLP program is designed for owners and managers of horticulture companies and focuses on core business skills required to run a successful operation. Candidates earn their CLP by successfully completing a series of seven written evaluations.
The CLP program has an exclusive set of training materials that were developed as method for self study in preparation for the CLP exam. Each manual corresponds to a section of the exam and can be purchased separately or for savings as a set.
To achieve the CLP designation, candidates must pass seven exams on these topic areas:
- Corporate Financial Management
- Managing Marketing and Sales
- Technical - Exterior Landscaping/Interior Landscaping
- Leadership and Corporate Citizenship
- Risk/Law/Contract/Government
- Innovation, Strategic, Business Succession Planning
- Human Resource Management
You may choose between exterior landscape contracting and interior landscaping tracks.
Qualifications:
Complete all 7 sections of the CLP exam, with a minimum of 70% in each section.
Meet the experience/education requirements (listed below)
- Degree + 3 years industry experience; or
- Diploma + 4 years industry experience; or
- 5 years industry experience
Exams:
Examination opportunities will be offered throughout the year in different areas. Examinations are in multiple choice format. Exams for the individual modules range in length from 20 to 70 questions. Exams are generally offered in four-hour time blocks, and you may choose to
write as many modules as you wish. A full exam covering all seven modules is 300 questions. You will receive results within 30 days of your test date.
Pricing:
Landscape Ontario member price: Exam fees are $65 per module, to a maximum of $325 per session or $325 for the full exam.
Study manuals are $55 (plus HST) each, or $325 (plus HST) for the set of seven.
