The quote above is just one of the reasons that taking part in a LO golf tournament is good business. It’s about networking, an essential part of developing business in today’s marketplace.

Social events cannot be overlooked as a goldmine of business opportunities. To quote author Peter Drucker, “More business decisions occur over lunch and dinner than at any other time, yet no MBA courses are given on the subject.” Haven’t we all got a story about a stranger that we met at an industry event who turned into a valued associate?

As hard as it is, we have to reject the tendency to keep our eyes solely on our work, we must look up and take opportunities to market ourselves within our own business community. Simply talking to one another is a great way to get referrals, find new opportunities, reconnect with current suppliers and even meet some new ones.

And, of course, we can have a little fun while we work.
